December 28, 2011

Old man winter is teasing us with dustings of snow these days. There was just enough for the white Christmas I was wishing for. And now, the presents are opened, the turkey leftovers are gone, and I have a chance to spend some quality time in the quilting room into the wee hours when everyone else is asleep. That’s the best present of all.

A new year brings plans for new quilts, and the hope of finishing some of the unfinished projects. I have set my goal to complete a few unfinished projects again in the New Year but those new projects just take over! Here’s hoping my list will be reduced by at least as many as I start. You can read more about THE LIST on the blog, The Fence Post.

Holiday Shop Hours. The shop will be opened December 28, 29 and 30, 9:30 – 5:00. We will be closed on Saturday, December 31 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 9:30.

Inventory Clearance. Our final sale this year is December 28-30. This is an Inventory Clearance Sale with most fabric 30% to 50% off. Buy two get one free on most fabric in stock! Or Finish a bolt and get an additional 10% off!! If you haven’t heard Christmas fabric is already 50% off the regular price!!!

Workshops in the New Year

Jackie is back every two weeks, starting January 13 with Six Inchers Club and will be teaching the Hunter Star workshop at the end of January.

Faith is working on a pretty new quilt incorporating appliqué and piecing. She will also be teaching her popular Smoosh Bag.

Back by popular demand is the monthly Scrap Club. Every month we will tackle a new block, scraps only though. You can choose to make a full size quilt using the block pattern or just one block each month and put them all together into a sampler quilt. The January block will be the Northern Puzzle. This versatile block will amaze you.

Ripless paper piecing is reams of fun! If you hate paper-piecing this method may change the way you think about paper-piecing. We have come up with some original designs to paper-piece in this one day workshop.

The Thread Head Bag is another new workshop. A bit of whimsy and paper-piecing combine to make this bag a useful carryall. The multiple pockets will carry all the essentials to a workshop and the smaller version is a great grab-and-go for guild.

We had a waiting list for Beginner Quilting this fall. January’s class if filling quickly so if you have been thinking about taking the class sign up now to avoid disappointment. Check our blog, The Fence Post, for pictures of some of the completed quilts from the last class and for the latest shop news.

Best wishes for health, happiness and prosperity in 2012.

Yours in stitches,
Jennifer, Faith, Anne, Lore and Linda
