Workshops

Jackie Petersen will lead quilters in making Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler. If you have read Jennifer Chiaverini’s novels you will be familiar with the Bridal Sampler described in The Master Quilter. The 140 block patterns are available in book form and you will need the book to take the workshop, which starts this Thursday, January 21. The series runs every second Thursday until the end of April. Why not use up some of your scraps and make this lovely sampler quilt with us?

Shamrocks and Shillelaghs, March 1, uses green scraps in a delightful wall hanging sure to charm the Irish in you.

Susan’s Serenity Table Runner on March 2 and Postcards from Japan, March 30 still have a few spaces.

Faith’s paper-piecing workshop next week has a few spaces.

Miniatures are easy with paper piecing and new products to make piecing triangles simple. We will be making a miniature medallion quilt 24 X 30.

Knitter News

Local Knitters are invited to join Grace Johnston at the shop every second Wednesday, from 10 – 1. Grace will be leading a drop-in starting February 10.

Grace states: "I would like people to experience knitting the way that I have; that a shy, left-handed, awkward child could make things that were both beautiful and practical; that the mistakes (and I’ve practiced making them for over 50 years of knitting) are just an opportunity for more knitting; that the dance that happens when the hands and brain are moving together is re-creative in the richest sense of that word. I also look forward to knitting together a new community here in my new home in Brockville."

Those interested in coming out to the first meeting of the Knitters’ Group please call the shop to sign up. Grace is happy to help beginners and more experienced knitters and will working on a Clapotis—a shawl/scarf on the bias for anyone wanting to knit along with her.

Our beginner class has filled once again and we will be adding a new session starting March 10 for 8 weeks. Sign up early to avoid disappointment.
