April 19, 2012
Well the weather is saying Spring but we know it is truly Spring when Ms. Pat migrates north from Florida and we start packing for our first quilt show. This year the “Quilt Show Season” moves into high gear this weekend with our first 2012 show in Trenton. Check the list to the right to see what guild quilt shows we will be attending as a vendor this summer. We look forward to meeting friends from near and far at these shows and hope you will take the time to visit us in the shop soon.
Beginner Quilting
Winter classes have wrapped up and our spring beginner class started a few weeks ago.
The next beginner class will start in September and is already filling. Don’t be disappointed . . . again. Sign up early because both morning and evening classes fill quickly.
Summer Classes
We have a number of bag workshops planned for May.
Bali Bag makes a great overnight bag or a carry-all for a workshop.
Camille’s Bag and the
Cabo Bucket are two great bags to feature those large prints we all hate to cut up. Check the blog for dates and times. We have an excellent line up of classes planned for summer. Pat will be teaching
Hawaiian Appliqué again as well as her wonderful hand appliqué techniques. You will be amazed at how easy she makes appliqué for both the beginner and more experienced quilters.
I have been busy putting the finishing touches on a
Saturday Morning Sampler project being offered this summer as a technique class every Saturday. Sign up for this weekly block program; then, every Saturday (following your visit to the local Farmers’ Market), drop in to pick up your kit and stay for a cup of coffee while you watch the technique demo for that week’s block. Registrants are welcome to stay for the morning and work on the blocks or take them home to work on. At the end of the summer the blocks and borders work together to make a beautiful pieced and appliqued quilt. This is a great take along project if you are travelling but kits are limited so sign up early.
We will be playing with new art quilt techniques: painting, 3-D, rag weaving and more this summer. Find out all about these workshops by reading our blog. These finish-in-a-day technique classes are great way to explore new techniques for journaling, art quilting and clothing.
Summer Rules!
Everyone knows that Summer rules, and as always we will demonstrate new rulers and tools when you purchase a ruler from Picket Fence Fabrics. Demos take about 5 minutes and will save you time when getting started with your new tool. Drop in to see the latest rulers being used in our classroom.
Summer Decorating
With new décor-weight fabrics in stock, we have made pillows and cushions to spruce up porch and patio. Check out the texture and prints we are featuring the next time you are in.
SUMMER HOURS
Visit us Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 5 pm, or on Saturdays from 9 am to 4 pm.
